Dental Floss - The New Toilet Paper

The Universe Speaks (In Dental Floss)

This week, I went to three different stores, none of them had dental floss that I like - the waxed type from Oral B. Aldi, Edeka, and Rewe, I went to three stores in three different quarters of Freiburg. What are the odds?! I’ve been out of floss for 2 days, already, so you can imagine how nervous I’ve been getting. So I had to order it online, frustrated beyond humanly possible comprehension. I ordered 4 rolls at once - don’t want to risk having no floss at home ever again. When I am down to my last 50 meters, I will restock. When I clicked the order button, I felt like some TP hoarder back during COVID times. The rush and excitement flowing through my veins. I must say, I understand them better now.

And then, tonight, I had a weird feverish dream about some sort of end time apocalypse, fallout kind of thing where some people came to me for help and I offered them, being a good neighbor and helpful citizen, what I’d consider most valuable and helpful to any person in dire need. I offered them dental floss. The picture at the top is actually a photo of me guarding my collection of floss. Below is one that I had ChatGPT create for me, although I like my version better.

AI-generated version of me and my floss.

Then Emmy woke me up. She probably telepathically connected with me and saw what kind of BS was going on up there in my brain, had enough of the absolutely terrible script, and came to wake me up with a gentle claw to the cheek, informing me that, in fact, cuddles and cat food are more important than taking care of my newly made imaginary friends in apocalyptic sleep town.

IDK if I am thankful for being handed that dream, or not. Seems like the universe was trying to give me signs on the next speculative currency. Just to be sure, I will buy some more and put a couple of those rolls of floss in the safe, right next to my elder wand. Everybody knows that, during times of crisis, you need cash, canned foods, tradeable goods, arms, and dental floss. Think about it: what good is food if you suffer from gum disease? You’d be dead in the water in no time. Go fill up your crisis backpack with some floss, thank me later.

I appreciate the universe guiding me once more. The last time it guided me, it told me to sell all my NVIDIA and AMD stock in 2020. I am yet to put a positive twist on this major fuckup. Nonetheless, I am sure that this time it is different, and the universe would not dare fuck me over again at such a monumental scale.

Running Strong This Week

Very happy with this week’s running progress. Did a total of 60km, with yesterday doing a half-marathon. Last time I did that, I felt a bit sore that day and the day after. This time, I feel really good, not really sore, went for a 4km run now just to fill up the 60km today and end the week strong (for my level of training and experience).

Kitchen Renovation Plans

Thinking about finally modernizing the kitchen in my apartment. I will need to get a quote soon to secure 2026 prices. Maybe some local stores offer some sort of end-year sales to get their shit out before the year ends. I’ll try to get an appointment at Obi or whatever kitchen planning studio to get the quote done ASAP.

My mom, who moved to Freiburg a couple of years ago, totally loves doing home renovations, and is ready like Usain Bolt right before the pistol goes off. I love it, I am super thankful for her help and her energy and motivation for doing these sorts of things. If it were not for her, I’d probably stick with the kitchen that’s been in the apartment likely since the 1990s - except for the cupboards, which look more like 1980s or late 1970s.

Banana Bread

This morning, I made banana bread, and man this one really kicks ass. I feel like I cheated, because I actually added one more banana than what the recipe said. I am that kind of wild. Also, thank goodness for coming back to wintertime.
